LUIZ FELIPE d’OREY

Biography

Luiz D'Orey was born in 1993 in Rio de Janeiro and moved to New York in 2012, where he currently lives and works. After earning his BFA degree from the School of visual arts in May 2016, he was chosen to represent the institution at Pulse Art Fair in Miami. He received, also from SVA, the 727 award (2016), Sillas H Rhodes Award (2016) and the Gilbert Stone scholarship (2015). The young artist has worked as an assistant for the two relevant Brazilian artists Carlos Vergara and Raul Mourão.

D'Orey's collages and paintings have been shown in group shows and fairs in the US, Europe and Brazil. He is currently represented by the gallery Mercedes Viegas in Rio, where he did his first solo show ‘Quase Plano’ in August of 2017. In 2018 D’Orey did his second solo show at Dot Art Gallery entitled ‘Espaço Comum’, in Belo Horizonte (Brazil). His work is part of the Pipa Institute Collection in Rio, Brazil.
